Participating California Sister Cities Board Meeting

Koyamada participated to support the bi-annual board meeting of the Northern and Southern California Chapters of Sister Cities International in Bakersfield, California.

California Sister Cities alone represent 76 member communities (cities and counties) with 375 active partnerships in 78 countries. The board members and other business leaders from each chapter drove long hours or flew all the way from their home cities to Bakersfield, CA to network and present their sister cities community activities to each other and discussed how they could improve their communities through their sister cities partnerships with other nations.

Since 2017, Koyamada serves as the national board of directors of the Sister Cities International and actively involves in both national and local level of sister cities activities throughout the United States and other nations.

Founded in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Sister Cities International (SCI) is a nonprofit citizen diplomacy network that creates and strengthens partnerships between communities in the United States and those in other countries, particularly through the establishment of "sister cities". More than 2,000 cities, states and counties are partnered in over 140 countries around the world.
